Electric Unicycles are Reliable Convenient Amazing
But there's some regular things you should be checking to keep your wheel in a rideable, tip top condition.

Tyres

Electric UniCycles (EUC) rely on the tyres being in good condition at an adequate pressure to give their best performance.

What tyre pressure to use in your wheel can be a very personal decision but you should be checking this tyre pressure regularly.

We recommend not letting your tyre pressure drop below 30PSI on any EUC.

Lower tyre pressures can be easier to learn on but you will lose range and will risk bending or damaging the wheel rim.

Check your EUC’s rim at least once a fortnight, as bent rims like these can cause you to lose control while riding.

Battery and Charging

EUCs use many grouped Lithium Ion batteries inernally to provide power.  To get the best and safest use out of these batteries here are some guidelines to follow.

  • Do not leave the EUC at full charge for longer than it has to be. Charge as close as possible to when you are going riding.
  • Regularily charge to 100% and then leave the unit on the charger for up to half an hour longer to balance the batteries. Unbalanced battery packs can lead to loss of performance in your EUC and rarely fire.
  • Leave your EUC to cool down for half an hour after riding before charging.
  • If you are going to store your EUC for a few days, make sure that the battery is charged at around 40%.
  • Do not leave your EUC at lower than 30% battery for long periods of time.

Suspension

Some models of EUC like the Kingsong S18 and Inmotion V11 have suspension systems built in, to allow for a smoother, more cushioned ride.

These systems require regular checking to ensure they are pumped up and the suspension rail or stanchions are clean and properly lubricated – especially if the unit has been offroad recently.

Hollow Motor Bearings

Several models of EUC have a hollow hub motor design which can have issues with the bearings failing or seizing due to grit and moisture collecting on the bearing shield. This can affect the Gotway RS, Gotway EX and the Inmotion V11.

We recommend regularly cleaning the bearing shield and applying a layer of Marine Grease to the bearing shield to help resist water and particulate ingress into the bearing.

We will also be offering bearing shield upgrade kits in the near future.
