The Nikola plus is probably one of the best choice for a beginner, someone who rides already, or even a seasoned rider. The Nikola is a wheel one can learn on, yet once learned, it is not instantly ‘outgrown’ by the new rider as soon as they can ride it, It is a wheel that is fast enough and strong enough for a rider to keep enjoying long after they have learned on it. It has enough range to do the longest ‘normal’ group ride as it can easily achieve 65km range ridden ‘sportingly’… (90km all up rider weight)… if ridden conservatively, closer to 75+ km… and obviously if really hammered, around 55km. Being a BeGodeway, if you ‘over do it’ and find you have used more battery than anticipated and you have a distance to get back to the car or home, riding gently (under 40kph and not pushing hard), the Nikola can stretch a few % of battery a long, long way without tilt back until the very end.
Every single person who has ridden my Nikola has commented how smooth, comfortable and quick it is. It is advertised as a 16″ wheel, however the tyre makes it actually a 17″ wheel… so it doesn’t ride like a 16″, it rides like a very zippy 18″ wheel. Because of it’s design, the shell is very water resistant as opposed to other BeGotways.
If you want to buy only ONE EUC to learn on, then keep to ride for many years without outgrowing it, I would thoroughly recommend the Nikola plus. I have a MCM5V2 and Sherman (both also purchased from E-riderz) the MCM for playing on, the Sherman for long rides, but the Nikola is my go-to wheel… the clear favorite.
I bought Chicway pedals and a RollNZ cover and recommend these to compliment your new Nikola.
To be fair, there is one ‘gripe’ I have with the Nikola… and that is the trolley handle, especially when a cover is used. To lift the handle, the cover has to be unzipped and the handle lifts but doesn’t lock… so, using the trolley handle is a bit ‘awkward’… however, I bought it to ride, not trolley… On the trolley handle, without a cover, people have bent the trolley handle in crashes due to the way it is fitted, most Nikola owners put velcro under the handle to avoid this occurring.
That is the only negative I can think of… the Nikola plus is an awesome, uncomplicated wheel.
